Summer has arrived at the Pig-A-Sus and Western Colorado, and what a welcome sight.
Pigs
are loving it, as well as us. The flowers are starting to bloom
and those sneaky crawling things are also out and about. We are
enjoying the longer days as well as the pigs.
We haven’t had much going on, with the exception of work, work,
work. The farming
is keeping us busy for full time, but the corn will be such a
welcome product for feed, come November that it is well worth
the time and effort.

We have decided not to do a “a Summer” open house for this year.
We do have several coming events coming up,.
This month, the Pig-A-Sus and Western Colorado Potbelly Pig
Education Health Centre have been invited to help participate in
a 3rd year anniversary celebration with the Blue Pig Art Gallery
located in Palisade, Colorado, on Sunday, June 20th
from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
We will have Tobyas, Sparky and possibly another few for
“hands-on”. We hope
to see you there. The Gallery is a very diverse Gallery with
features for everyone’s taste in the Art field.
Please join us there to help them celebrate.
As for things at the Pig-A-Sus, we are working to finish our
construction projects, get a backhoe, and donations for more
cement for the remaining 5 heated huts that we need to finish
before September.

All Potbelly Pigs are doing great.
Several of our “Special Needs” group have made great
improvement over the last 2 months.
Diamond,(14) our ole girl who ate the mouse/rat poison has make
remarkable progress and is venturing on her own to have
afternoon naps in the cool grass and shade. Life is Good!!
Pearlie Jo, (8.5) our asthmatic girl is doing much better with
her neublizer, (Thank you Gail Miller and Scarlett) for the
donation of the machine.
She has been smart enough to figure out that it helps her
breathe and lays perfectly still while getting the treatment.
Essi (3) is taking full advantage of the “weight loss program”
(Jenny Craig has nothing on our program) and lost a total of 18
pounds in less than 3 months,
Chelsea (17) has
taken full use of the hydrotherapy tub for the winter months and
now has graduated to the swimming pools for the summer. BUT she
is walking much better and enjoying the sun and cool breeze
under the apple trees.
Hector (14), who lost his 6 year companion Min Mouse, a few
months ago has begun to socialize with other's which is great
for him.
Remember to call your local veterinarian for update on
vaccinations, Mycoplasma pneumonia and worming by injection, (Ivomec).
Also for health certificates and micro-chipping if you
are traveling out of the state of Colorado, ALL SWINE REGARDLESS

Enjoy your summer months while enjoingy your pet(s) rather a
potbelly pig, dog, cat, horse, or whatever you chose for a
companion animal.
Make sure to take appropriate measures for the heat that your
animal(s) endure.
To some ANIMALS, excessive HEAT is instant death, and to others,
may cause many medical problems.
Know what to do and WHAT NOT TO DO, to cool your animals.
REMEMBER, COLD WATER IS NOT A HEALTHY REMEMDY FOR COOLING DOWN
YOUR ANIMAL……. THIS CAUSES HEATSTROKES, HEART ATTACKS, AND
STROKES
